LAS Responsible Use Agreement
I understand that Leysin American School (LAS) provides technology resources, including laptops, internet access, email, and storage for educational purposes. I agree to the following responsibilities and restrictions:
- Educational Use: I will use LAS resources primarily for school-related work and minimally for personal use, avoiding commercial or illegal activities.
- Internet Use: I will use the internet only with faculty permission and avoid disrupting others, such as through excessive bandwidth use.
- Content: I will avoid using objectionable content or engaging in inappropriate activities, including games and media.
- Privacy & Security: I will keep my password confidential, not share personal or confidential information, and not post images or data of myself or others to unsecured websites.
- Behavior: I will not post or share content that harasses, threatens, insults, or misrepresents others, and will refrain from posting graphic, violent, or sexually explicit material.
- Copyright & Integrity: I will respect copyright laws, avoid tampering with hardware or software, and not interfere with others' files or introduce harmful programs.
- Compliance: I will report any issues to the IT department or staff, and understand that my use of technology is a privilege. LAS reserves the right to monitor my use to ensure compliance with these policies.
- Off-Campus Conduct: I understand that violating these rules off-campus may result in disciplinary measures if it affects my education or the school community.
- Device Use: Students in grades 7-9 will use LAS devices only. Personal devices will be stored by dorm staff.
- Personal Device Use: I may bring my own devices (unless in grades 7-9) but must comply with all LAS rules. I will not take photos or record without permission, and will not use my device in class unless instructed. I understand my personal device may be confiscated if misused, and that LAS is not responsible for any theft, damage, or loss of personal devices.
*Students may not use their own personal devices or be given a WiFi access code unless this agreement is signed and returned to the LAS IT Department.
