- Protect Myself: Keep details private and secure accounts.
- Respect Others: Avoid bullying, harmful sites, and respect privacy.
- Protect Others: Report abuse and avoid sharing inappropriate content.

- Use devices for educational purposes.

- Software installation requires approval.
- Commercial, political, and religious activities are prohibited.
- Users are liable for damage to devices or data.
- LAS owns and may inspect data on school devices.

- Some activities are illegal.
User Access And Explanation Of Guidelines
Access to LAS technology is a privilege. Students, parents, and faculty/staff must read, sign, and return the LAS Responsible Use Agreement, which governs the use of technology devices, digital resources, and network infrastructure. This agreement follows the school’s data protection, child protection, responsible use, and disciplinary policies outlined in the LAS Student and Family Handbook. As technology evolves, not all situations can be covered, so users must use good judgment and follow both the “letter” and “spirit” of these policies.
User Responsibilities:
Users must act responsibly when using LAS technology. Staff will guide students in technology use and monitor access. Teachers should vet websites for appropriateness.
Users must protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access. Modifying or hacking others' files or passwords is prohibited.
Email accounts are for school-related use; emails may be subject to legal requests. Forwarding non-educational messages is not allowed. Only data files can be attached to emails—no .exe files.
LAS resources cannot be used for commercial purposes. Users must report any unauthorized use to IT.
Prohibited Actions:
- Leaving devices open to unauthorized access
- Interfering with or damaging devices, systems, or data
- Bypassing network security or accessing restricted files
- Modifying or deleting files not belonging to you
- Sending offensive or inflammatory messages
- Accessing harmful or inappropriate content
- Misrepresenting yourself or others online
- Sharing passwords or using personal devices on the network without permission
- Storing inappropriate files (e.g., music, games, offensive images)
- Violating copyright or plagiarism policies
- Using devices for commercial or political purposes
- Hacking, uploading harmful software, or connecting unauthorized devices
- Engaging in harassment or bullying
- Violating the student code of conduct (e.g., cheating, theft)
Device Responsibility
Users are issued laptops and devices for school use and must care for them, using them for school work and practicing good digital citizenship.
LAS technology use is a privilege. All activities on school devices, networks, or the internet may be monitored. Inappropriate use may result in restricted access, disciplinary action, or legal consequences.
Ownership of Device
Responsibility for the Device
Students are responsible for their devices and must:
- Follow the LAS Responsible Use Agreement.
- Ensure devices are charged and ready for class.
- Handle devices carefully and avoid leaving them unsecured.
- Keep devices in protective cases and avoid stickers.
- Report issues or damage to IT promptly.
- Do not alter serial numbers or open the device.
- Use only the supported operating system and software.
- Keep the device clean and in working condition.
Responsibility for Electronic Data
Personal Use Of LAS Technology Resources
Content Filtering
LAS uses software and hardware to block inappropriate sites and filter content according to best practices. While not all content can be filtered, the school aims to minimize gaps without hindering educational use.
Students should report any inappropriate content to IT, teachers, or administrators.
Bypassing the filter or using unauthorized hotspots is prohibited. LAS also educates users on responsible online behavior and cyberbullying prevention.
Monitoring
LAS monitors its network for security and performance. There is no expectation of privacy, and IT may review activity for policy violations or legal compliance.
CCTV, supervised by the Health and Safety Coordinator, ensures safety but records visuals only, not sound.
Routine monitoring may reveal violations. If there is reasonable suspicion, user files may be searched accordingly.
LAS Social Media Policy
This policy applies to all social media use impacting LAS. Posts must comply with school policies. Students must not use social media to:
- Violate the Responsible Use Agreement
- Breach confidentiality or data rules
- Harass, bully, or discriminate
- Share personal student/staff information
